St. Stephens Graveyard

St. Stephens

is long in ruins. The headstones date from 1753 to 1887, and roughly indicate the period in which it was open, although it was probably in use well before 1753. The municipal cemetery (St.Patrick's) was opened in 1886, and became the usual burial ground for all faiths from then on. The site at present consists of a little more than 120 headstones, along with the partial remains of the Church of St. Stephen.
